a visit from the svensson's

greger's cousin andreas and his wife amy came up for a 1 1/2 week visit with two of their kids, josiah and colin. (mitchell, their 14 yr old, was in california). josiah is 2 1/2 and colin, 12. they live in vero beach, florida. andreas is swedish and amy is american so it's nice to talk to another cross-cultural couple. amy has a blog and she updated it with many pictures of their visit here...so please check it out: www.svensfamilyadventures.blogspot.com
i am put to shame by amy's blogging. and i have all the same pictures b/c i'm terrible at remembering to take them...
andreas and greger are very close. we have adorable pictures of them holding hands when they were very young and andreas was greger's best man in our wedding. they are very special to us and loved having them visit.

ebba's summer so far...

ebba is 9 months now and getting taller, her hair is getting longer (and crazier), she has 6 teeth and counting and loves to walk along furniture. it is just amazing to see her change. she is such a pappa's girl!!! you should see her reaction when pappa walks in the room. precious. also, she is talking so much (baby talk that sounds german??)...sometimes she talks like she's giving a passionate speech and she raises her arm and shakes her fist in the air. i would love to know what she's thinking and saying. i've been pretty crap with my camera lately, but here are some random pictures of the summer so far.

one year ago today...

My parents, greger and I (with a 6 month fetal ebba) left slovakia to fly to Split, Croatia to meet up with greger's parents, ola, henrik and tina (with a 7 month fetal henning) to have 7 days of the most relaxing and memorable trip we have ever taken.

We took a ferry to the island of Hvar, and then drove on narrow roads to a small little town called Ivan Dolac
This was our villa just a block away from the mediterranean (at roughly $300/couple for the entire week!!!)
Hvar is the island of lavender, sage, rosemary and wine...imagine having those scents fill the air from the time you go to bed, until you wake up

Croatia has some UNESCO sites dating back to the 7th century

Sometimes we would cook dinner in the villa or go out to visit the many restaurants in nearby towns. This was one of our favorites, right on the water and in our town

From around 9am until 5pm we would soak up the sun on our rocky beach, dipping in and out of the water when our bodies needed a drink or laying on tubes and rafts, floating along the water's edge and drifting off to sleep

We watched lots of world cup soccer (it was a rough night when sweden lost to germany)
It was midsommar when we were there, so lise and po cooked a traditional meal for us to celebrate.

...and what a perfect time and place to celebrate the summer.

greger is officially a triathlete. he completed an olympic distance tri yesterday at Lake Independence with www.libertytri.com

he did an amazing job (46th place out of 140)and we are so proud of him. erin, derek and jocelyn came with me to cheer for him (and to cheer for our friends merrie, aaron and hector). again neeraj, thank you for babysitting.

i'm sure this is just the beginning of a long and expensive love affair...

love the chair

a friend of mine asked me about highchairs and so i thought i would show ours on here. we love it. it fits onto our dining room table, ebba can be at our "level" when we eat and it doesn't take up a lot of space. it also comes with a bag to put it in so you can travel with it. chicco, $50 at babiesrus.
